One of the keys to effective event planning, is time management, it’s about taking the time to create a checklist, which is basically your to-do-list, because without it you will be all over the place.
It’s best to write out everything you need to do, so that you don’t forget anything. I know that is easier said than done, but even when don’t know where to begin, just start writing your list of tasks to do and stop once you feel frustrated or overwhelmed, then step away from the list and start back again later.
Another key to a successfully event planning, is staying on tasks; and the best way to do that is to stay on top of your checklist. It’s easy to do and easy to not do, and it can cause a lot of chaos, when you don’t.
I was working on an event a few weeks ago and a huge issue was time management. This caused me to have lost a lot of sleep because I had to work on tasks that should have been done months ago. It was planned 10 months in advance but the client did share important information and didn’t contact the appropriate vendors that was needed for the event. So I had to step in and fix a whole lot of stuff at the very last minute and all it took was sharing with me the checklist and communicating what tasks that were done. A few extra minutes on the client’s part would have saved a whole lot of time on my part, however, the event was a great success, but not without a lot of extra tasks at the last minute.
Time is so important and it is something that you can’t get back once you lose it and sometimes that can you cost you time and money. I have created two great guides that have excellent checklist, that will help you stay on task and it has tasks already listed so that you won’t have to create everything from scratch.
